Even though my preferred style (and advice) when it comes to decorating is to not lean too far into trends (opting instead to mix old and new pieces across multiple styles), this summer’s home decor trends speak to me a little more than a usual year. Building upon ‘Tomato Girl Summer’ and ‘fairycore’ from 2023, summer 2025 is giving escapism in the best ways possible. With 4 colorful, quirky, yet timeless in a way, summer vibes, Summer 2025 is the best time to give your home an inexpensive and fresh update.
How can I include my favorite (or all 4?!) of these trends my home, you ask? Honestly, I think the most appealing aspects of each of these trends are the color palettes and feeling you get from each one. They each offer their own sense of color, yet with a breezy and relaxing touch. Nothing too formal or stuffy, and colorful without burning your eyes. More importantly, they all offer their own sense of fun. We are finally(!!!!!) moving away from the sad beige trend and all white kitchens from 2018ish and making way for more color and personality in our homes.
Read below for tips on adding touches of these trends to your home and find some of my favorite pieces.
2023 may have been the official launch of “Tomato Girl Summer,” but in 2025, the bright red tomato motifs are still going strong. Sunshiny, a little quirky, and pattern heavy, Tomato Girl Summer is, in my opinion, bringing us all into our own red era.
If the tomatoes really draw your eye, maybe you gravitate towards rich colors, like deep reds and greens. Try to bring in some red accessories like throw pillows or a beautiful vase that pops against your furniture. Natural elements like rattan or house plants will add to that indoor/outdoor feel. Throw in some gingham fabric, and you’re ready for an outdoor (or indoor) picnic!
Maybe the tomatoes aren’t your thing, and you really love the ‘Fisherman Aesthetic,’ what I’m deeming Sardine Summer (even if, like me, you have no desire to eat a sardine). If the sardines are catching your eye, you could be drawn to cool, calming, coastal colors and love a relaxed and breezy home. Blues, tans, and soft, buttery yellows evoke that New England charm without a ton of effort. Bring in texture with cozy throw blankets, baskets, and natural accessories (think drift wood, shells, etc.). Finally, a small touch of quirkiness, like a sardine print or dish, gives off a collected and charming feel without overcommitting to a theme.
My personal favorite of the bunch (my kitchen is lemon themed after all), Limoncello presents a feeling of summering on the Amalfi Coast, drinking spritzers, lounging poolside, and enjoying a laidback lifestyle surrounded by colorful architecture and natural beauty. Yellow, obviously, plays a big role in bringing this look to life, but tans, greens, and oranges add to that citrusy feel as well. A lived-in look by mixing in antiques and thrift finds along with fun citrus prints and colorful fabrics brings an old world charm to the modern era.
Containing elements of both Limoncello and Tomato Girl Summer, I’m separating this look from the others, because it has a slightly bolder and wider color palette and a more youthful vibe. Vibrant reds and yellows, cool blues and greens, and every color in between, fruit prints are all about having fun with your style. This trend is all about personality; don’t be afraid to mix colors and patterns. Quirky conversation pieces, like this stacked strawberry vase or banana serving bowl, bring a punch to your space and let guests know you can have fun in your home.
