2 Christmas Table Setting Ideas for 2024

I’ll be the first to tell you that I am not a chef. I do like to bake, but my real (and totally necessary, obviously) contribution to holiday dinners is the table decor. I looooooove to decorate a table, and I’m looking forward to 2025 where I’ll be officially offering local holiday decor and table-set up installations!

While it’s still 2024, however, I’ll just leave you with some easy Christmas table settings for your party or Christmas Eve dinner.

Tips for a Christmas Table Setting

  1. Vary the heights of your decor pieces for visual interest.

  2. Don’t be afraid of color!

  3. Mixing the ‘weights’ of patterns can add interest without feeling overwhelming to the eyes.

Colorful Vintage Christmas Table Setting

For my first table look, I used adorable paper place mats shaped like a vintage wreath from Hester & Cook as my inspiration.

From there, the place settings were easy. The bottom blue plate is a disposable plate purchased from Home Goods. Stacked on top are napkins from Hester & Cook and a cute, vintage ceramic plate from World Market. Finishing the place setting are cute name cards in the same vintage motif from Hester & Cook.

While I love the place settings, I think the centerpiece is the star of this table. While not a vintage piece, my deer turine purchased from Anthropologie years ago gives off a vintagey vibe, in my opinion. Surrounding the deer is a glittery garland purchased from Hobby Lobby. Within the garland, I included a few of my Shiny Brite ornaments and a forest of colorful bottle brush trees (also from Hobby Lobby).

Candy Themed Christmas Tablescape

For a second tablescape look, I used items I already had around my house to create this whimsical and colorful candy and gingerbread themed table design.

Using the same disposable plates from before, I topped with my memaline gingerbread plates from Anthropologie I’ve had for years. Add in some gingerbread house napkins and a Christmas popper, and the place settings are simple - but fun!

For the centerpiece, I threw my buffalo check table runner on and topped with 3 gingerbread house decor pieces (all from Home Goods).

Shopping your house is a great way to fill in decor for table settings. Garlands, ornaments, bottle brush trees, even your mixed glassware collection all make for great add ons to a table setting.

I can’t wait to keep creating this year and am looking forward to brainstorming ideas to bring to your table!
