Kitchen Renovation Part 2

About 2 months into our kitchen reno, and we are soclose to being finished. I can see the finish line, even though some days it still feels like there’s a ways to go.

Since demo day, we have:

  1. Had a full foundation and structural fix

  2. Built all of our IKEA cabinets ourselves

  3. Had the cabinets and countertops installed

  4. Updated the electrical and plumbing (so happy for more plugs!)

  5. Purchased all new appliances

  6. Finally started to see the vision come to life! (the most important)

Dare I say it, but, so far, the renovation has gone relatively smoothly. Unlike our bathroom renovation, we’ve had no major surprises. The layout changes have already changed our lives in the best way possible. Adding a small peninsula and extra counter space by the fridge makes our kitchen so much more functional. I even feel like we have more cabinets than we know what to do with- though I’m sure I’ll fill them just fine.

Our initial thoughts on the IKEA cabinets are incredibly positive. Even our installer was impressed by their sturdiness! We’ve really enjoyed discovering all of the organization options that IKEA kitchens have to offer. And the soft-close drawers? *chef’s kiss*

So what all do we have left? Mostly finishing touches. Currently, we are waiting on our hood vent to be built that I designed myself. Once that is installed, we can finally tile. And then…..wallpaper and finishing details! AKA, my favorite part.

Thanks for following along! I can’t wait to share the final result.
