Well, I’m so sad that Christmas is behind us. October through November is always my favorite time of year, and I fully believe our house is at its best decorated for Christmas. So, if you, like me, need a holiday or decorating adventure to look forward to in the dreary months of January and February, see some of my favorite decor for Valentine’s Day this year to add some festive decor back in to your home.
I have a lot planned for 2025 decorating-wise, and I hope this is the first post of a very colorful year!
I like to find Valentine’s Day decorations at my usual decor stores of choice – Target, Michael’s, World Market, or any other craft local craft store. Anthropologie even has exciting new items for the season with an expansion in their Bistro dishware line (a personal favorite of mine). I also enjoy perusing paper goods stores for festive party decor like paper plates and napkins – My Mind’s Eye and Paper Source are two of my favorites.
Color! Obviously, we love the traditional red and pink tones of Valentine’s, but throwing in pastel blues and purples can add an unexpected twist and additional sweetness to all of the red.
Thrift! Thrifting for Valentine’s decor is a fun treasure hunt and eco-friendly way to bring in some additional items. I love vintage Valentine’s Day cards and post-cards. They have such unique patterns and artwork and make great additions to wreaths, table settings, or whatever else you can think of!
Use What You Have! ‘Shopping my house’ is one of the best ways for me to use items I already own in new ways. It not only keeps me from spending too much money, but also challenges me to be creative. Have a set of plain white dishes? Create a Valentine’s table setting with those plates, pastel napkins, and a box of conversation hearts! Have a lot of red ornaments from Christmas? Fill a vase or lay out on a table runner, and you’re ready for a Valentine’s dinner at home!
